Welcome to Munro Honey

Since 1914, Munro Honey has grown to one of the largest producers, packers, and exporters of Canadian no.1 honey and hive products in Ontario. In 1999 we added Munro’s Meadery to our company, and are proud to be the first and only Meadery in the province of Ontario.

The success of Munro Honey is largely due to the knowledge and expertise gained through five generations of beekeepers and honey producers, along with a small group of hard working, dedicated individuals who help ensure that everything runs smooth.

Our simple marketing philosophy: "Produce and deliver a premium quality product at a fair price."

Our reputation for excellence in product and service will continue to be our goal and the commitment we make to all our customers.

Munro’s Sweet Mead is awarded gold again.
The 2008 Mead Festival was held in Boulder Colorado February 8th & 9th .There were over 130 meads entered from North America and Europe, the largest number of entries in the history of the competition. Munro’s Meadery received three medals for our traditional style meads.

Munro’s Meadery Sweet Mead – Gold
Munro’s Meadery Dry Mead – Silver
Munro’s Meadery Mead – Bronze

Steve Bryans, a 5th generation beekeeper of Munro Honey and Meadery in Alvinston, gets a kiss from his fiance Rachel Bannister, after winning first place in a bee beard competition Saturday, August 11th.

By tying a queen honey bee in a tiny cage around Steve's neck, Tom Hiemstra was able to coax about 10,000 bees to hang from his face creating the "beard". Of the four contestants in the competition, Steve's beard was the fullest at 2.2 lbs.

When asked to describe the sensation, Steve said that the beard felt "warm and tingly". Steve was only stung twice during the hour wearing the beard. This was the 3rd annual competition hosted by Clovermead Apiaries in Aylmer.

This award is a sweet addition to the medals won by Munro's Mead earlier this year.

The 2007 International Mead Festival was held in Denver, Colorado February 9th and 10th.  Over 100 commercial meads from 7 different countries were represented and served at the tasting sessions. New international entries included Denmark and Lithuania, plus several new US meaderies as well.

Munro Honey & Meadery faired well at the 2007 International Mead Festival medal ceremony.
